7 Tips to Pass A Theory Test

Remain calm

Stressed and tensed can block your performance in any exam. To stay calm during the test take deep, slow breaths continuously.

Take practice questions

You are not required to practice the test questions. However, it will give you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the kind of questions you will see on the computer. Before doing the real assessment, you should finish off the 5 practice questions.

Save the difficult questions for later

You may flag your questions, go to the next question and come back to flagged questions at the end of your test. On average, you have 68 seconds to answer each question. Flag Hard Questions and Move On: It is better to flag questions that seem difficult for you and move on to the next question.

Practice

Before starting the hazard perception part of your test, you will have the opportunity to watch a practice clip. This practice question helps you get well-prepared for the actual video questions.

Tips for Hazard Perception

What to do after receiving results

Your test results might take a little while to arrive or they may be provided to you instantly. If you pass, congratulations! You will receive a standard letter with your pass certificate number, and you will need this number to book your practical driving test. Remember, you need to book and pass your practical test within 2 years or else you will have to retake the theory test.

If you don't pass, try not to be too hard on yourself. You will receive a letter outlining where you lost points. You must wait at least three working days before retaking your theory test, though at busier centres, the wait to rebook may be slightly longer. Use the feedback provided to focus on the areas where you struggled and improve for your next attempt.
